Those who intend to apply to become volunteers will have to attend an individual interview session which lasts about 30 minutes, to facilitate our understanding of the applicant's personality, applicant’s understanding towards Open Up’s service, as well as applicant’s knowledge towards youth mental wellness,etc.
Volunteer who is admitted after interview, are required to complete the whole volunteer training session, which includes:
1. 8 hour face-to-face training session
2. 16 hour online training session
3. 9 hour simulated case drilling session
The training aims at enhancing volunteer’s understanding towards youngster’s nature, learning the skills of online counselling as well as crisis assessment and intervention.
Upon completion of all training sessions, volunteers are required to complete 36-duty-hours within half a year.
33 hours of professional training is rendered before service provision, in order to grasp the skills of online counselling
Volunteers are free to join workshops which are organized regularly, facilitating their understanding towards counselling
Leisure gathering among volunteers are organized regularly, allowing volunteers to get to know each other
Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony are organized regularly, awarding certificates of different levels in recognition of volunteer contributions
Volunteers with outstanding performance will also receive letters of recommendation and letters of appreciation
Mission of the Project:OpenUp is a 24/7 online counseling platform that listening to the needs of youths through text messages and providing immediate emotional support.
Target group:Age 18 or older.
Service plan:To provide online counseling/emotional support to youths, some specific trainings and further workshops would be open to volunteers.
Training content:16 hours of online trainings, 8 hours of face-to-face trainings and 9 hours of practicums.
